I've been (slowly) working on the 24v wiring throughout the bus, and have now added a couple more pelmet lights. The 24v system runs from the battery room underneath the bus to four remote fuse boxes, before being distributed in each local area to lights and USB charging sockets. It's been fiddly work but I'm getting lots of practice and getting better at my technique! I've also been putting the finishing touches to the kitchen cupboards and pantry space. Next on my list is the bathroom area (currently an empty space) and getting the gas sorted for the stove and hot water service. Having exhausted our bus project funds (and energy levels), the timeline for completion has blown out, but I'm still thinking that we're on track to move into the bus within the next three months. We spent a lazy afternoon down along the Sandgate foreshore, whilst the kids played on the beach and ran around on the tidal flats at sunset. We enjoyed a sunny Sunday morning by the water and photographing my favourite tree at Brighton. It's been a while since we posted an update. After our two week holiday and 'test run' in the bus, we returned home and came crashing back to reality. I hadn't realised just how burnt out I was until we took a holiday and I actually stopped still (or at least slowed down for a little bit). I had been working on the bus every day and every night for many months, whilst juggling full-time parenting and domestic responsibilities. Despite things being unfinished in the bus, the holiday was wonderful. It gave us all an awesome taste of bus life. We loved it so much that it was hard to return to our normal life and routine in Brisbane. My mind was already on the road and dreaming of our next destination. Having also exhausted our bus funds, the project needed to slow down anyway! For a couple of weeks, I hardly went near the bus. But gradually my motivation and energy has returned. I've jumped back into the project over the past couple of weeks, completing the kitchen cabinets, pantry cupboards and drawers. And I'm now tackling the huge task of 24v wiring throughout the bus. I'm working at a much more manageable pace and leaving time for other interests (adventures with the kids, hanging out with @littleearthstories, reading books, and our new hobby of kayaking). It's all about balance! I have a long list of jobs to complete in the bus (I'll save that list for another post) but am feeling confident that we can have the bus ready (to a 'livable in caravan parks' standard) within a few months. These two like to start their day with a little walk outside. They wander around like two old men, inspecting the new day, watching the bird life and taking in their surroundings. We're camped at Pottsville North (thanks to @tweedcoastholidayparks) which is perfect for their morning walk. We're on a powered site (suitable for buses) in a large grassy field, with plenty of open space for the boys to roam. We're on a two week Tweed Coast adventure, staying in Bronte the bus at @tweedcoastholidayparks. We started our Tweed Coast holiday with a couple of nights at Boyds Bay Holiday Park. This place is one of my favourites. I stayed here nine years ago in Alice the bus (for a couple of months) and spent my days paddling a kayak in Terranora Creek and the Tweed River. We’re on a two week Tweed Coast adventure, staying in Bronte the bus at @tweedcoastholidayparks. We started our Tweed Coast holiday with a couple of nights at Boyds Bay Holiday Park.
